The Adaptable Communication Lab
A practical framework for transforming how your team communicates through shifts and changes.
TM
Most communication breakdowns don’t come from a lack of knowledge. They come from rigid and inelastic thinking.
The Adaptable Communication Lab™ trains your team to navigate interpersonal tension with awareness, regulation, and intention so communication becomes harmonious, not stifled.
How it works
1. Awareness
Develop subtext listening skills and recognize internal reactivity
2. Regulation
Master rhythm and pacing for effective delivery
3. Attunement
Learn to seamlessly harmonize with those around you
4. Expression
Communicate clearly and directly with intention and charisma
5. Adaptation
Adjust communication based on context, feedback, and team needs
What This Creates…
When your team learns to communicate this way, you’ll see:
More productive, less reactive conversations
Stronger trust and psychological safety
Increased collaboration across roles and personalities
Greater engagement and ownership
A team that can navigate shifts without breaking down
…In musical terms
How these steps translate to the music process
Awareness = Active listening
Regulation = Tempo Control
Attunement = Tuning and Harmonizing
Expression = Playing and Singing
Adaptation = Improvisation
For companies experiencing friction, burnout, and poor performance in their staff
breaking these habits means trying something new.
Hi I’m Nicki Gelfand
M.S. MT-BC
As a Board-Certified Music Therapist, my 7+ years of work goes far beyond traditional communication training. I design and facilitate goal-oriented experiences that meet individuals exactly where they are, while guiding them toward meaningful and measurable progress.
I’m trained to track multiple layers of human behavior in real time by facilitating groups while reading nonverbal cues, emotional shifts, and relational dynamics, all while playing and conducting music. This means I’m continuously adapting and responding to the living ecosystem of the room.
In psychiatric inpatient settings, I’ve supported individuals in acute states using nervous system regulation, de-escalation techniques, and self-insight driven interventions. My work also spans outpatient mental health with teens and adults, as well as hospice and memory care settings. Each environment requires, precision adaptability and attunement to unique needs.
Today, I bring this same level of awareness, adaptability, and structure into corporate spaces. My group facilitation is experiential and grounded in real-world application—equipping teams with the ability to communicate clearly, navigate tension, and work together more effectively. My workshops consistently receive strong feedback for improving team cohesion, psychological safety, and overall culture.
My skillset combines clinical exactness and human connection, helping people integrate adaptability as a second nature.
I bring my expertise into corporate environments in order to:
Reduce friction between teams/departments
Teach professional, assertive communication
Practice leadership level communication skills/deescalation
Build trust, emotional intelligence, and group synergy
Improve listening, confidence, and clarity in both speaking and decision-making
Through guided vocal practices and interactive group processes, your team will:
Release tension that interferes with authentic communication
Cultivate a deeper awareness of how voice impacts leadership
Build trust, emotional intelligence, and group synergy
Strengthen vocal presence and projection
Improve listening, confidence, and clarity in both speaking and decision-making
This workshop is a powerful reset — helping individuals and teams communicate more effectively, express with purpose, and lead with resonance.
